Well 2009 is almost all wrapped up, and what an amazing year it's been!
However, before we begin I want to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the F-Response Customers who have supported us over year. Quite simply, your faith in the product and desire to share our mission with others has been instrumental in all of our successes this year. Thank you all so very much.
Now, there's quite a bit of ground to cover in this year's "Year in Review" so I'll get right into it.
Believe it or not last January we were just wrapping up our first "public beta" for F-Response 2.x. The public beta focused on getting our customers access to the new Physical Memory features of F-Response.
While you were hard at work reviewing and working with F-Response 2.x we were rapidly building what would be known as F-Response 3.09 and the debut of the F-Response Management Consoles (F-Response Enterprise Management Console and F-Response Consultant Connector).
Simply put the FEMC and FCC put a truly polished look on F-Response and provided a dramatically streamlined process for using F-Response in day-to-day activities.
In addition to the management consoles we are happy to say that our supported platforms base grew dramatically during 2009. In January we were providing a beta Linux and Apple version, here in December we now have full production versions of F-Response for Windows, Linux, Apple, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, HP_UX, and FreeBSD.
All told there's been a good number of enhancements and upgrades to F-Response over the past year, including:
- - Management Consoles greatly streamlining the use of F-Response
- - Completely rebuilt network licensing engine
- - Custom scanning options and context menus
- - Username and password enhancements
- - Scriptable COM objects for the Enterprise Management Console
- - Supported major platforms including: Windows, Linux, Apple, Solaris, AIX, HPUX, FreeBSD
- - Recognition by Winqual Labs as being a Microsoft Windows 7 Compatible Application
On top of changes and enhancements to F-Response we've been on the road this year meeting with customers and delivering presentations focused on our vision of the future of Computer Forensics, E-Discovery, and Incident Response.
This year's road show included CEIC in Orlando FL, HTCIA in Lake Tahoe, and the ACFE Conference in Las Vegas. These conferences gave us an opportunity to not only demonstrate F-Response, but also to meet with customers and F-Response users. Hopefully if you were in attendance at one of those events you stopped by the booth to say hello! If not, we will be back on the road again in early January at DoD Cybercrime, perhaps we'll see you there.
In addition to speaking and demonstrations F-Response appeared in a few publications and interview sessions, including a one-on-one with Forensic4Cast Podcast host Lee Whitfield. Shortly thereafter Lee announced the "1st Annual Forensic4Cast Awards", for which F-Response garnered multiple nominations.
As we approached the end of this year we debuted our "secret" project, F-Response TACTICAL.
The original vision for TACTICAL came from F-Response Professional Services consultants. They wanted a version that could be rapidly deployed and used by a wide range of technical skill level individuals.
TACTICAL focuses on a streamlined usage, streamlined pricing, and is licensed in multiple year bundles with discounted pricing options for Gov, LE, Non-Profit, and Educational users.
In tandem with TACTICAL's release we were once again invited on to the Cyberspeak Podcast. A special thanks to Bret and Ovie for helping us extend the F-Response and TACTICAL message to their remarkably wide and well educated audience.
So what's next in 2010?
Expect more of the same, we've got a few very exciting projects and releases lined up for the new year, as always be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed to hear about blog posts and news releases as they come out.
Thanks, and have a happy and safe Holiday season.
Warmest Regards,
M. Shannon, Founder
